UPDATE AUGUST 2025: Unfortunately Veterans Park isn’t as great of an option as it used to be. It has become very overgrown (to the point you can barely see the pond) and many of the tall grasses are dormant and brown along the boardwalk. It’s possible it looks better in the spring/early summer — I will check that out in 2026. I am going to leave this post up in case there’s a specific spot at Veterans that you really love and we can discuss it further. I am happy to go check out it’s current status should you be interested in shooting here and will report back to you.

I discovered this little gem of a park by chance … it happens to be right across the street from one of the best playgrounds in Hudson. Veterans Park Hudson OH is a small, quiet location just a few minutes from downtown. There is rarely anyone else there, besides the frogs you’ll hear in the pond. The park boasts a beautiful pond surrounded by tall grasses, a gravel path through the woods and an amazing boardwalk over the water. There’s also a brick ground feature and a few different benches to use during your session. And if you’re up for it during the summer months, across the street is a splash pad. It is such a fun way to end your session with little ones.

Veterans Park is best used in the evenings or on a cloudy morning. The location has some beautiful fall color come October, and is full of lush greenery the rest of the outdoor season. (Added in 2025) In the last few years, I’ve noticed this location can get quite overgrown. I’d say the best time of year to shoot here would be spring/early summer or later into fall when the foliage is thinning out.

If you’re looking for somewhere quiet and simple where we can just focus on your family, then Veterans Park is a great option! Just a head’s up, there is a train that sometimes goes by and there is also the playground across the street … both of which can be a bit distracting for certain little ones who might be familiar with the area (or really into trains).
